4th Moon Of Xyth
The 4th Moon of Xyth was the biggest project thus far in the history of
deep-space ship building. The two leading ship building companies Alpha
and Rune, known concurrents, decided to combine forces for this project
which should take mankind to the previously unexplored depths of the universe.
Alpha, known for their succesfull Vector and Nagato class
ships, excelled in creating robust ships with amazing defensive and offensive
capabilities and were responsible for the initial design of the outer hull and
skeleton of the ship. Rune's ships excelled in manouvrability and their
ship's internal electronics & computers were of the highest quality and most
inovating. It was also Rune that created the basics for the cloaking
technology, to be perfected later on by StarTech. During the 12 years it
took to create the 4th Moon of Xyth, 2 new companies came into existence from
specialized groups within both Alpha and Rune. Warbird was
formerly the department within Alpha that was responsible for the design
of deep-space engines, these became quickly superior to those that were created
by Alpha, to the point that even Alpha and the several smaller
ship building companies started buying the Warbird engines. The increased
complexity and number of internal ship systems demanded a very reliable central
computer that could contral all these systems and act quickly when needed or
prompted to. The continous evolution of the already superior Rune
electronic systems led to the development of the Startech MK 1 central
computer, at the moment of the release of the first prototypes of this computer,
the electronics department within Rune, created its own independent and
specialized company, Startech.
Since the prime objective of this project was to create a base that could
maintain itself and provide a few 1000 inhabitants of living conditions similar
to those on Earth while in orbit around any planet, the 4th Moon Of Xyth
was firstly designed as base, not as deep-space ship. Once the base was finished
after the 12 years of work it was dismounted and reassembled as deep-space ship.
After testing and one more dismount and reassembly to double check all ship
systems the ship was ready for it's journey.
The change from ship to fully funtional base and vice versa only took one week
to complete, and while in base version, all defensive and offensive systems and
the engines will remain online all the time in case of emergencies.
While in ship version, the 4th Moon Of Xyth has the following dimensions
: length = 1672 metres (5485 ft), width = 369 metres (1212 ft), heigth = 566
metres (1857 ft). It has 4 main spherical modules with a diametre of 340 metres
(1115 ft) and height = 120 metres (394 ft), during flight, one of these is used
as control center and holds half of the stasis-sleep cells, the second holds the
other half of the stasis-sleep cells while the 2 remaining modules contain 25 Nagato
MK 1 fighter class ships and 75 Vector class ships. The ship is also
equipped with 2 bays containing 8 Nagato MK 1 fighters and 24 Vector
ships which can be deployed during flight. Other defensive systems include 8
laser turrets and the offensive include 4 Lance-lasers. Finally the ship has 6
huge containers with enough material to set up a base on the surface of a
planet.

When transformed into base, the structure has the following dimensions :
diametre = 960 metres (3150 ft), heigth = 870 metres (2850 ft).
The four modules now serve different purposes compared to when in ship mode, two
of these holds all rooms for the onboard crew and stationed pilots as well as a
medical center and various basic shops. The two others are directly connected to
the 8 docks and contain refueling centres, repair bays and a ship construction
yard and the academy. The small fighter bay and the main energy cells and
engines from the ship mode are still present as well. This base allows all basic
functions to maintain a medium sized fleet and protect the planet below. It's
built so it can be easily expanded as it's still a relatively small base.
