Nebula Warriors introduction.

Nebula Warriors is a small tactical ship placement game, inspired by Xiangqi aka Chinese chess (upon which stratego was based).

In the galaxy of Xyth there are many nebulae. The various alien races extract valuable materials from them and wars are often fought over control of these nebulae.
You command a squadron of 10 ships with different strengths. An enemy squadron needs to be defeated in a battle that takes place in a nebula. The interference of the dust of the nebula will hide the strengths of enemy ships, you only know their location. Through clever ship placement and using the currents of the nebula to help you win individual ship-to-ship duels, you'll have to ensure your squadron emerges victorious.

Next to single player missions against the various alien races in Xyth, you can also challenge other players.

There are 9 set of ships available - one for each race + artifacts. The game doesn't have a link with the 4th moon storyline beyond that.

since graywing said that many races fight for the resorses in the nebula who knows which race you would be even though the :xy: are dependent on nebulas for their survival. also looking at how it is played it seems like it might become dull quickly

im presuming that a testing mode is going to be available to all registered nulll members, given thats what the precedent so far as ive seen has been (and what makes the most sense) so no worries about letting you test. we all can get in on this.

Yes, is a short game.

Just, i want to see what ships have you selected from every race. (for now i only know about HU, CA and RV, because, are the only showed on the Wiki)

Because, you can use HU and fight versus CA, when in the storyline they are on aliance. :p

hmmm. i think that the uniqueness of each race is part of why people make them favorites though.

perhaps one ship in the group could have a unique property not seen in any of the other races. examples could be that a particular mid range ship in CC might deal some damage to the enemy ship before the enemy ship gets to hit, mimicking haste, or that a similar sized ship within that race dealt some damage to nearby enemies, as the cerberus drone. maybe HU and/or RV could use the akata/nanobot carrier to heal damaged allies on use, and the use of the technomancer sabetour could disable another random enemy ship, temporarily halving its strength.

inputing this idea would negate the equality that the races have in this though, and make a pain in the rear balancing the races, as well as be very hard to use since the system was designed as plain vanilla, with no need for abilities. overall, while it would be fun, it might take away some of the fun in using identical forces against each other (something not really seen in Nulll games, since the games are either deck based or in some way impossible to program as having the same strategy options as are available to humans, or too race related, thus negating the identicality anyway) and be more work than it is worth to input.

Who can implement storyline perfectly? That requires too many subsidies and extra minigames.

This is to be a small game, it's a good idea to add something specific to each race (this was actually so at one point), but i made this over the past few months, while continuously being interrupted by non-game related stuff. I'm glad it's finished so that i can start on new stuff, but it didn't turn out to be as big as originally planned.

I agree with Chyriax, in that having identical units (except for their looks) can be a good thing. Look at old warcraft, where there were only a few skills different between orcs and humans. Pitting two identical things against each other leaves it less to their differences to win a game, but more to the skill of their controller. In this game, the playing tactic is more important than exploiting skills/abilities. Remember that this game is inspired by Xiangqi aka Chinese chess, upon which stratego was based, which is a game where the mechanic matters (even though millions of variations have been made where they did add special abilities).
If this is something that the average players enjoys or not, remains to be seen. But i figured this is was fun idea to be turned into a game.

Regarding storyline, there are often different factions within a race and these don't always do the same thing. Within the HU race there are mercenary groups linked to the DSE-group that attack everything, including CA. In fact, the CA are only officially allied with the humans living in the outer regions of the galaxy, and that's only a small part of humanity. CA have a pirate faction, XY have rogue XY, etc, etc (more about all this in the HD rpg).

i would assume that non game related stuff doesn't mean the forum. it probably has more to do with whats going on offline than online.

if i remember it right Xiangqi had a river in the board,
and some rule about having a piece approach the river
before it could cross, as well as certain pieces
could not cross the river at all,
and i believe your general/king can not leave a certain box,
and i think there's an alternate version in which
you mix all the pieces (face down) then you stagger
them and take turns uncovering them and follows standard rules


if i remember it right Xiangqi had a river in the board and some rule about having a piece approach the river before it could cross, as well as certain pieces could not cross the river at all and i believe your general/king can not leave a certain box,
and i think there's an alternate version in which you mix all the pieces (face down) then you stagger them and take turns uncovering them and follows standard rules

No This isn't Xiangqi. I think that It's totally a simple battle game which let you manage your fleet to get good thing.

On the wiki, it says that is inspired on Xiangqi, but not its is.
