The races strategies.

Postby Japheth » Sat Apr 21, 2012 2:13 am

Here's my idea of the 8 races game strategies: HU: Offensive. CA: Defensive. XY: Balanced. CC: Quick. RV: Slow. MT: Growth. TM: Control. RD: Strength. Is this right?
May the force be with you.

My idea:
:hu: balanced, EWarfare, support
:ca: indirect attack, energy drain, defense
:xy: support, structures, high health
:cc: ship buffing, offensive, light
:rv: heavy, anti-structure, destructive
:mt: random, debuffing, heavy
:tm: defensive, EW, actions
:rd: heavy, balanced, ships

meh, these are fun

so:
:hu: fast light ships and heavy antiship bigger ships, direct base damage
:ca: indirect attack, energy draining
:xy: versatility at the expense of off/def, +BaseHP, ewar
:cc: Rushers, buffers
:rv: Heavy hitters, slow, repair/salvage
:mt: Chaotic, defensive
:tm: Attrition, Ewar, hand manipulation
:rd: High power for a high cost, shares secondary specializations with other races [like green's energy drain]

Defends With - Structures, Tactical play, Healing/Regeneration, Attrition

Pink

Defends With - Rush

Brown

Defends With - Board Control, Healing

Purple
Attacks With - Rush or Mid Range
Defends With - Targeted Damage, Mid Range

Teal
Attacks With - Fat
Defends With - Mid Range, Board Control

Gold

penney, can you define fat? are you meaning fat ships, which are great hulking things that result from the saying unstopable tank meets immovable wall, and break both like twigs?

By fat I do mean big ships, yes. If fat is listed under attack then it means power and if it is listed under defense it means the ship's hp.

It depends on the card types on every race.

I'm making a list, of that strategies.

well, no list is going to hold every strategy among any race. sometimes these can just be missed, or placed under fewer categores than needed, or whatever. pink can, surprisingly, manage a halfway decent defencive deck, but its so underpowered compared to the offencive ability that its hard to use. many races that does targeted damage can use it defencively, and any race other than HU with it can do so directly at the base. blue can slaughter in 1 turn with 3-4x control feedbacks, and brown can use artillery cruisers/frigates as a source of targeted damage. teal can actually defend with swarms of ships, and gold isn't just about big ships, but the abilities therien.
my point is this: do you want to spend months coming up with every concievable strategy for every race? or should we just let excelent lists like penney's sum it up for us. these things i just named aren't in penney's list, but does that mean that the list failed to get general ideas across? it does not fail, and instead would be a great tool for showing newer members what to watch for just from seeing base color. i feel that if we get too in depth, we are wasting our own time and confusing the issue.

In other words, the color pie.

I'll bet GW has one floating around, if not written down, then at least in his head...

Ginger - There is a difference between what you are saying and what we are saying.

If somebody tries to play a red deck with zero ship cards in the deck they will lose.

If somebody tries to do the same thing with a blue deck, they stand some small chance of actually winning.

According to you, the red deck strategy of zero ships is available if you play it extremely well. According to me, it isn't available at all.

This is the basic disconnect that is causing you to go around contradicting common knowledge. You might want to re-evaluate the way you are using the word "available" so it is more in line with the way that everyone else is using it. Otherwise, it will just confuse people when you make comments.

I'm talking to you as we've set our targets to AI, not another player.
Without a ship, red CAN win using 4 Artillery Towers, and of course, cruise missiles. Then red can deck somebody out. Also, red has torpedo which can denial energy and prevent himself from being attacked from Adelans.

Somebody would have to be an idiot to be beat by a red deck that is trying to deck them using artillery towers, cruise missiles, and torpedoes.

no, idiots have brains. the pre-requisite for being beat by artillery, missiles, and torps requires either that the person is TRYING to lose, or that said person lacks a brain.

like penney said earlier, i could see it with blue, but red can't do that. use a lot of lifegain, neb spires for keeping alive, and then thunder shards to take enemy ships to nothing, and then you can wait for them to deck. also, crystal tree would not require including ships into the deck, so you could potentially buff them into something good.(i have before, particularly when they are the only ships i can manage to find or keep in the right slot to kill that thogrom or whatever.) at one time we had a land combo, which was nothing but lands that were -enemy base life spammed until they died from losing so much life off just lands. that was a purple thing, still not a red strategy. i suppose teal/gold could manage, instakilling everything that showed its face and using demonic rift, but thats still not something red can do.

i managed to build a deck with 100% win rate. its simple, really.

just win the only game you ever play with that deck and never play it again.
