HD3 game settings

Most settings can be adjusted in the settings screen, accessible from the main menu of the game. A few settings can only be changed by modifying the HD3settings.ini file, found in the HD3 files folder.

The settings screen

Note : in the current alpha version of the game, this screen only contains several basic settings. Additional advanced settings can be accessed through the settings file (see below).

The settings file

The settings file is called HD3settings.ini, and can be found in the HD3 files folder.

file layout

This file has three areas, of which only the 3rd one may be edited (the file indicates which area that is). Editing the wrong areas, or changing the order in which settings are listed, or deleting entries, can cause the settings file to be recreated from scratch with the default values the next time the game starts.

Here is an example of what this file generally looks like :

Supported resolutions (0-5) : fullscreen, 800x500, 1024x640, 1200x750, 1280x800, 1600x1000
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(do not modify settings below)
settingsversion=300000
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Settings below may be edited manually - please observe range of accepted values)
settingA(0-5)=3
settingB(0-100)=80
...
settingZ(0-1)=1
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Each setting takes up one line and follows a specific format : settingName(min-max)=value

  • settingName : this is the name of the setting
  • min : the minimum value that is accepted for this setting
  • max : the maximum value that is accepted for this setting
  • value : the current value that will be applied to this setting when the game starts
