Basic game info
Hidden Dimensions is a sci-fi card game where you and your opponent control a large baseship and a deck of cards. The cards in your deck represent structures, ships and actions and the goal of each duel is to reduce the opposing base's hitpoints (HP) to zero.
You start each duel with 7 cards, randomly chosen from your deck as your opening hand. Only cards that are in your hand can be played, you'll draw one extra card from your deck at start of each turn.
You can have up to 5 structures and 7 ships at once on the field. Structures are your main source of energy but can also provide defensive and offensive boosts to your base. The energy structures provide, can then be used to launch ships or perform actions. Ships serve both to attack the opposing base as well as defend your own base. Each turn, all your ships that are capable of attacking will deal damage to opposing ship in front of them - if there's no ship in front of them, they'll deal their damage directly to the opposing base. Actions are one-use cards that provide a wide variety of defensive, offensive or ship adjusting effects.
Both players take turns and each turn has the following structure : first, all ships and structures owned by the active player will activate their automatic abilities. Second, the active player gets to draw the top card from their deck. Then the main phase starts, during which the active player can play any number of ships, structures and actions and can also activate any abilities his ships and structures in play might have. When the active player has completed their main phase, any ships they have that are capable of attacking, will do so, then the other player's turn will start.
Hidden dimensions lets you build decks from a collection of almost 500 different cards, divided over 9 cardsets. Various single player modes pit you against computer opponents in different environments and difficulties. Both open and ranked multiplayer modes allow you to duel players from all over the world, and with the challenge and campaign builders you can create content for other players.

Collecting cards & awards
HD Xyth has nearly 500 different cards, but there are various ways of collecting cards.
Every single player or multiplayer game you play has a chance of rewarding you with a random card. The chance depends on the overall difficulty level of the game. Adding deckmods to your opponent in quick fight matches will increase the droprate. Increasing the strength of opponent's deck will do the same.
Storyline campaigns also have a chance to reward random cards, but on top of that, the first time you play an encounter on any of the three difficulty levels, you are guaranteed a reward. For the second time you play a certain encounter on a specific difficulty, that guaranteed reward instead becomes a 50% chance, and from the 3rd time you play the same mission at the same difficulty onwards, the chance is 33%.
During any duel you can also collect awards, which are triggered when specific things happen during combat, for instance : you managed to destroy a legend of your opponent. These awards add to the chance to win cards - the more awards you have, the higher the chance to win cards.
