Overview & access
The challenge builder allows to set up a deck and related elements for a computer opponent. This setup is then saved to the database, which can be browsed by other players, allowing them to play challenges created by other players.
The challenge builder comes in two versions : Default and Elite. The Default version allows to quickly create a deck and give it deck mods and a number of ships in play. The Elite builder doesn't offer deckmods, but instead every aspect of the opponent's base can be edited, from base HP, over energy stocks to resistance, regeneration, etc. On top of that the Elite builder also allows players to edit the every stat on the cards in the deck for this challenge.
The number of challenges a player can create is limited per day (the number of credits you have left for each builder determines the number of challenges that can be submitted on a single day) and the total number of challenges for a single player is also limited to 40. It is possible to delete challenges you have made in the past to free up space to create new ones.
For more info on the individual challenge builders, see the next two sections in the manual.
Default challenge builder
The default builder splits the creation of a challenge into 3 parts : the deck, deckmods and the challenge's name.
1. Setting up a deck.
Similar to the quick fight setup screen, you can choose between a randomly generated deck or a self-made deck. If you want your challenge to have a randomly generated deck, choose two race icons, a general tactic for the deck and the deck strength. Deck strength determines the average upgrade level of the cards in the deck. To create a deck yourself, click the 'create deck' button on the right side of the top panel, which will take you to the deck editor. Simply create a deck and click 'continue' when you're ready, to save the deck you've created.
2. Setting up deck mods.
You can add up to 3 deck mods to your challenge, using the second panel. These are the same deck mods that you can set up for a quick fight. There are 3 deck mods that allow the computer opponent to start with ships in play : Ambush, Fortress and Warstation - for these you can define which ships or structures will be in play at the start of the duel. Select the 'custom' option for each of these deck mods to see a number of slots with 2 up and 2 down buttons each. The left-most up and down buttons for any slot allow you to scroll cards within a certain race, the right-most up and down allow you to browse another race of cards.
3. Naming & testing.
Finally, give your challenge a name and test it to make sure it works out ok. Then you can click the 'confirm' button in the bottom right of the screen to upload the challenge to the database.
If you have created challenges before and want to edit or delete them, use the tiny 'browse' button in the top-right corner of the screen.
Elite challenge builder
The Elite builder allows you to edit every aspect of a game and as such, a lot more buttons and options will be present compared to the normal builder. At the top of screen, you can start with giving your challenge a name, the various buttons are explained below. Note that the 'AI base', 'In play', 'Editor' buttons are not available if you haven't added at least 1 card to the deck.
AI deck : click this button to set up a deck for the opponent, the challenge builder will use a different deck editor for this purpose. You can load a deck you can load a deck from your list of saved decks, or you can create a deck from scratch. Click any of the 60 card slots (empty or otherwise), to bring up some options at the bottom of the screen to browse a card for this slot. When there is a card in the selected slot, you can copy it to another slot or edit the card.
AI base : this section allows you to change various aspects of the base of the computer opponent. At the very least, a base image and an amount for the base HP is required, everything else is optional. In play : here you can set up which ships and structures will be in play at the start of the duel. Only cards that are already in the deck can be chosen here. Use the arrow buttons to browse through the slots of the deck.
Editor : this panel allows you to edit every aspect about the cards in the deck.
The 'browser' button allows you to edit or deleted challenges you made previously. The 'test' button allows you to test the challenge. To save your work in progress to your savegame, use the 'loc. save' button, the 'loc. load' button can then be used to continue working on a saved challenge. The 'reset' button removes everything from the builder and the 'confirm' button will upload your finished challenge to the database.
