Overview & access

The campaign builder allows to create a complete single-chapter campaign and upload it so other players can play through it.

Similar the challenge builders, the number of credits you have determines the number of campaigns you can submit on a certain day. The credits are reset every day. The number of campaigns a single player can submit in total is limited to 20, but previously made campaigns can be deleted to free up room for new ones.

The next two sections in the manual will show how to use the campaign builder.

Campaign details & sector map

The campaign editor shows the sector map in the top half of the screen (nothing will show here if you don't have a campaign yet), a row of buttons underneath it and a panel whose contents varies depending on what section of the editor is open. The row of buttons allows you to choose between 3 sections : 'info edit', 'map edit' and 'missions'. The load and save local buttons allow you to save and load your work in progress to your savegame.

The first screen of the campaign editor, the 'campaign info editor', allows you to give your campaign a name and provide an introduction text for players. The 'UI color' determines the color of bonus icons and text boxes on the sector map - preferably set this to the color of the race that's most important in your campaign. The 'Race restriction' is optional and determines what kind of deck the player must be using to play through your campaign. If you set this to Human for instance, players will need to use a deck containing at least 50% Human cards. 'Random encounter chance' determines how likely random encounters are to appear after a player completed a mission or another counter. This chance goes down by 1% with every random encounter a player completes.

The map editor is where you'll create the background imagery of the sector map. Up to 50 icons can be postioned on the map, rotated and colorized. If there are no icons on the map yet, only the 'add new icon' button is available. When you have icons on the map, you'll get a number of things that can be changed about the icon in the bottom panel. The currently selected icon will have a border around it and you can browse icons by using the arrow buttons under the icon image in the bottom panel. The Z order determines in which order icons are rendered. Higher Z order value will cause icons to overlap those with lower Z order values.

Campaign missions

Adding missions (or encounters) to your campaign is done in two steps : first you add their icons to the map, then you can set up the type of duel this encounter contains. To add icons, click the 'missions' button in the row of buttons above the bottom panel. Adding mission icons is almost completely identical to adding environment icons. The main difference is that missions have a M order. This is only important if you want to sort your missions in a certain way to make editing easier on yourself. Note that changing the M order also changes the id (bottom left corner of the panel) and this id is important when linking missions together, so avoid using the M order if you have already set the mission unlocks.

To edit the contents of a mission, click the 'mission data' button in the bottom panel. This brings up a screen where you can add a title and (pre)text that shows when a player clicks the mission and a (post)text that shows when a player has completed this mission. Each text can also have an image.
The first mission (id 0) will be the only mission available to the player when they start your campaign, when a player completes this first mission, one or two other missions might unlock, who in turn unlock more missions and so on. This behaviour is controlled by the two 'Unlocks IDs' these numbers refer to the ids of the mission icons you added to the sector map. If you want a certain mission to end the campaign (i.e. your final mission), set both its unlocks to 50. The mission map will show numbers and lines connecting missions to give you a visual aid when setting up the Unlocks IDs. Not all missions need to unlock other missions, but make sure that every mission you have is somehow unlockable through another mission (except for the mission with id 0).
You can also add a bonus and up to 3 environments to your missions on this screen.

To add a deck and setup for the computer opponent in a mission, you use the challenge builders. Two buttons in the bottom panel allow you to choose between the default and the elite builder. For info on how to use these builders in detail, find the campaign builder pages in this help section. The campaign builders will have 'save' buttons when you have opened them this way, which allow you to save the challenge you made into the mission and return to the campaign builder.
