Bio : 'Until Death Overtakes Me', the
name comes from a phrase from the track 'Black God' by 'My Dying
Bride'. But UDOM and MDB bride have nothing more than that phrase in
common, since UDOM's music is several times slower and is basically a
mix between funeral doom and dark ambient. UDOM was founded in may
1999 and the first release was a split with 'I Dream No More', another
of S. his solo projects. 4 months later, the first album was finished
and here some of the first tracks with the typical UDOM atmosphere
were presented : melancholic, wavey keyboard lines combines with slow
and heavy guitars, so slow it's almost ambient, these were accompanied
by timpani instead of traditional drums and deep grunts. While 'Deep
Dark Red' had only some hints towards dark ambient, the next album
'Absence Of Life' was a perfect mix between dark ambient and
ultra-slow funeral doom, the album only had 4 tracks but lasted over
65 minutes. After the release of 'Absence Of Life', UDOM re-recorded
the tracks of 'Deep Dark Red' and made some arrangements to
them...this resulted in the new version of 'Deep Dark Red' and a
double CD, containing both UDOM albums. Early 2003 UDOM signed a
one-album deal with Firebox and released 'Prelude To Monolith' on this
label in february 2003...a Prelude to the next symphony, the best is
yet to come...
